Creating the next generation of architects starts here.
Young talent is essential for keeping the architecture and wider built environment sector alive, which is why we think it's critical to support the next generation through mentoring and training.

We supported Beyond the Box CIC’s Festival of the Future, hosted at the Royal College of Art Battersea Campus, which offered two whole days of activities for people school age and above who are interested in getting involved in the industry.
Our workshop, 'Beyond the Blueprint', looked at the routes into architecture and what we do in our day-to-day, helping to showcase and inspire the potential next generation of the profession.

Led by dMFK team members Isobel Eaton, Lovely Jayne Javier, Sanjidah Chowdhury and Flynn Collins, our workshop first opened with a closer look at alternative paths into architecture, exploring options like foundation years and apprenticeship programmes as potential routes into the industry outside of a formal degree.

Following this, pupils were guided through an interactive session where they had the chance to experiment with a floor plan and design a nursery space, informing their designs with factors like light, acoustics, and privacy. The workshop even included selecting materials from our sample library to use.

Every architect started somewhere. For some of the students we met, it might have been here. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Beyond the Box for making it happen.
