As part of the studio’s mission to widening access to careers in the built environment, dMFK recently hosted The Baytree Centre, a social inclusion charity supporting women and girls, to the studio for a Career Insight Day.

The group heard from our team about different routes into architecture and design, explored our sample library – learning how everyday waste such as coffee cups and plastic bottles can be transformed into building materials – and completed a design exercise based on a real dMFK nursery project.

An integral part of the Brixton community since 1991, The Baytree Centre provides workshops, mentoring, coaching, as well as English classes and integration support for newly arrived migrants and refugees.
