Mayfair HQ is a warm, contemporary headquarters for a 50-person investment firm. Set within a six-storey heritage building, the split-level workspace offers a mix of communal open plan areas, focused working zones and private offices. Solid ash, dark stained oak, natural stone and ceramic slabs add depth and tactility, complemented by a soft, neutral palette. The client’s curated artwork is displayed throughout, enriching a series of atmospheric, interconnected spaces.

The base build refurbishment, although high quality, had drawn attention away from the historic character of the office. We set out to reintroduce warmth and tactility through layered materials and curated spaces that support collaboration and enrich the client’s workplace culture. Moving from a traditional, disjointed office that limited interaction, strengthening connections across the team was essential.

Our brief was to create an interconnected series of spaces that acknowledge everyone works in different ways. Significant work was required to spatially plan the mix of offices, working pods and meeting rooms, balanced with larger communal areas for group work, shared meals and events. The interiors needed to be carefully curated to lend softness and comfort to the overall space.
Before and After

We reorganised the split-level floorplates into a clear, legible circuit, allowing smaller, private spaces to open naturally into larger shared areas. Bespoke joinery, coffered ceilings and carefully designed furnishings helped bridge the heritage fabric with contemporary interventions. The heart of the new HQ features a bespoke dining table designed to suit the elongated space. A custom dark-stained oak boardroom table has been crafted to complement the heritage section of the building, whilst durable worktops with a walnut base have been selected to coalesce with the timber joinery.

Each decision was guided by longevity. Flexible planning and durable materials were introduced to help the workspace adapt as the team’s needs evolve, reducing the likelihood of future wasteful refurbishment. By focusing on context, texture and long-term usability, the refurbishment creates a warm, atmospheric headquarters that supports a range of working styles and strengthens everyday connection across the business.
