RASCAL is a creative studio representing cutting-edge VFX artists, colourists, composers and sound designers. Their London base is designed as a crafted, quality-driven headquarters that reinforces their brand. Aged timber, patinated finishes and reclaimed fittings introduce tactility and depth, with materials chosen to mark and age over time. Guests arrive in a welcoming reception and bar before moving through spaces for collaboration, quieter focus and day-to-day working. Below, specialist suites sit more privately, acoustically separated from the activity above.

RASCAL's brief combined co-working, collaboration and events with high-performance post-production studios, each with distinct performance, confidentiality and aesthetic criteria. The space also needed to welcome visitors and clients from first encounter to final review. Our aim was to create a place that felt personal, layered and distinctly RASCAL, where the craft of the environment quietly mirrors the craft of the work taking place within it.

We subdivided the open-plan shell to create a clear and intuitive journey: an arrival lounge and bar, open desk areas, meeting rooms and quiet pockets for day-to-day work. The staircase was relocated to create a stronger connection with the basement, where the colour, sound and VFX suites form a more controlled inner world. Each suite operates differently, so each was designed differently. To get there, we had to truly listen and embrace the learning process, working closely with post-production specialists to meet demanding technical standards.

Before and After

Materiality brings character and narrative. Reclaimed iroko chemistry lab worktops became a bar counter and executive desk. Banquettes and tables were salvaged from a neighbouring restaurant. Unlacquered brass details were chosen to tarnish and patinate over time. The result is a workplace with stories embedded in every surface – expressive, technically precise and made to last.
