Proposals to revamp Camden’s former Carreras Cigarette Factory win planning

The gently calibrated design reinvigorates the arrival experience, which for years has been dominated by a car ramp, and celebrates the much-loved black cats within a new people-focused greened frontage.
The scheme introduces a new rooftop pavilion and panoramic roof terrace, in addition to transforming the dated internal amenity offering into a hospitality-driven, joined-up series of shared spaces.
"This building is in my blood – my dad had his first job there when it was still a cigarette factory and always pointed it out to me. Taking on the refurbishment of this landmark is really special. We're looking forward to working with Lazari to implement these sensitive, characterful improvements.”
Julian de Metz, Director at dMFK

Our proposals significantly enlarge and elevate the character of the main reception, rethink the lower-ground floor as a first-class end-of-trip and wellness suite, and introduce a new restaurant.
Works on site are scheduled to commence in early 2026.
